Adventures Abroad!

I'm in beautiful Brisbane (Brizzie to the locals) now with my husband John. He took a new job at the beginning of the year, and I've finally sorted out my commitments and have followed him here. It's winter right now (well I wouldn't get too carried away, winter here is about 80 degress (give or take), not exactly what I call harsh!!

This is the view from our apartment, we're on the 29th floor, right down town (or CBD as they say here, Central Business District). I walk everywhere, partially because we have no car (and even if we did a) parking is impossible and 2) uh - driving on the wrong side of the road - I'm not ready for that adventure yet!!). I've never lived right downtown before, so it's been fun (and a challenge) to figure out life in the city (population 2 million, give or take a few thousand!)

Last night John and I went to a Flamenco concert, across the river from us. We went to our first Flamenco concert in Portland OR and had a great time, so thought we would try it out again. Audience participation (oles from the crowd, whistling, clapping), just lots of fun. Afterwords we went to the casino for a drink (the casino is the old Treasury building - how is that for ironic?! and right across the street from where we are staying.) Love the fact we can do this sort of thing.

Heading out this weekend for the Bunya National Park, to see the Bunya trees and suppose to be lots of Kangaroos and other wildlife to see. I'll let you know what I see.
